About Me:
Academic Beginnings
Born and raised in Stafford, England, and naturally possessed of an introspective, bookish personality, I quickly found myself attracted to the quieter corners of my school libraries.
Academically successful, but with no idea of what was really important in life, it was during my teens that I decided, somewhat arbitrarily, to go on a no-holes-barred mission to study mathematics at my dream academic institution, the wonderful, unforgettable and thoroughly inspiring Trinity College, Cambridge.
Spiritual Murmurings
Also attracted to living a “simple life”, after being accepted to Cambridge, I took a year off to dig for some spiritual roots in Mother India. It was in the small pilgrimage town of Bodhgaya that I met, quite by chance, my future spiritual teacher-to-be, Andrew Cohen. Not really understanding his talks about Enlightenment, but intrigued by the unpretentious manner with which he spoke about such lofty subjects, I diligently wrote down everything I could remember each evening in my diary.
College Awakening
Back at Trinity three years later, and having jumped ship to the English department, it was as a result of an intense passion for the poetry of William Blake that I had my first experience of transcendent enlightened consciousness and it blew my tiny little mind to bits. Brought to my knees by the Absolute, I knew for the first time that what Andrew Cohen had taught in India was true - that enlightenment is a living possibility in this life, for those who are willing to go all the way.
Reunited with my Guru
Knowing that I had to do something serious about all this, but having gotten lost in the “I'm my own best teacher” mentality that is so common in contemporary spirituality (and by then, several years later, living a very worldly life), it dawned on me that, spiritually speaking, I might not make it this time around. So I found Andrew Cohen on the internet, having had no contact with him since India. And after reading the website for several hours, the bitter sense of spiritual exile that had dogged me for years rapidly faded, and I knew that I had found my guru at last.
The Future
Having been Andrew's student now for over 6 years, the context for my own early experience of enlightenment has expanded dramatically. Along with a small group of fellow spiritual warriors, we are trying to create a revolution in the world based on collective enlightened consciousness. Our mission is the Universe Project - nothing less than the enlightenment of the whole universe, as co-creators with the First Cause. It's utterly and absolutely AUDACIOUS!
So feel free to drop me a line, fellow zaadzsters! One thing's for sure: we can only succeed if we do this together.
